We worked on this visualization with Polygraph as a continuation of Google News Initiative’s series of visual experiments.

Methodology

We examined search interest in topics related to the US State of Union speech for day following when it was delivered. Numbers represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart for the given region and time. A value of 100 is the peak popularity for the term. A value of 50 means that the term is half as popular.

For 2009 and 2017, the president’s First Address to a Joint Session was used.
